CONCERTS AT LUZERNE 2009 Luzerne Music Center takes pride in presenting world class concerts along with its instructional programs.
|
An important part of Luzerne's summer musical curriculum for students and faculty alike is attending, listening to, participating in, and presenting concerts for audience members and one another, as well as learning from outstanding guest artists, such as MIDORI.
Luzerne's performance-based curriculum includes: Saturday Evening Recitals by student soloists and ensembles; Sunday Afternoon Concerts by student ensembles and the Luzerne Music Center’s 75-piece Symphony Orchestra; and student participation in performances by faculty and visiting artists at the Center’s Monday evening Luzerne Chamber Music Festival and Friday evening Faculty Concert Series - all presented on campus.
The Luzerne Symphony Orchestra and smaller student ensembles also present outreach concerts, time and budget permitting. Luzerne's summer experience would not be complete without its traditional mid-week trips to nearby Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) and the Little Spa Theater for performances of the Philadelphia Orchestra and New York City Ballet. These performances are attended by all faculty members and students, who are invited back stage at intermission to meet members of these performing arts organizations, as well as some of the world’s most famous soloists.
LMC Senior Session students and faculty regularly meet Maestro Charles Dutoit and Philadelphia Orchestra members in their respective fields, as well as renowned soloist Yo Yo Ma, member, Luzerne Artistic Advisory Board.
