I have conducted the First State Youth Orchestra for the past 17 years. The orchestra serves the Southern Delaware area and is part of the Music School of Delaware. I also teach at the Music School of Delaware and the St. Andrews High school with much success.

What excites you about Luzerne Music Center?

I love LMC. Everything excites me there. The atmosphere is great, the music-making is amazing and the students are very talented. It's the greatest environment for students to experience music, and for the faculty to perform and to teach.

What can campers expect to learn while working with you this summer?

When teaching conducting, I focus on the need to go deeper into your knowledge of music - knowing the conducting motions, knowing the score, and understanding the music and the composer.

I am a conductor, cellist and educator in the Washington, D.C. area and nationally.  Currently in my eighth season as Music Director and Conductor of the Apollo Orchestra, I have collaborated with artists from the Metropolitan Opera and the Washington National Opera. For the past three years I have led the Apollo Orchestra in performances at the Kennedy Center and am currently in my fourth year as Assistant Conductor of the York Symphony Orchestra. On top of that I am an avid educator; serving as Director of Strings at the Norwood School, conductor of The Symphonette at Landon School, and Music Director and Conductor of the Frederick Regional Youth Orchestra.

What excites you about Luzerne Music Center?

2 years ago I was invited to work with the Senior Orchestra for the Gala concert. Within the first couple of minutes of that rehearsal I sensed an immediate connection to the orchestra, and an extremely high level of playing. I look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition of music making with thrilling repertoire and soloists.

What can campers expect to learn while working with you this summer?

Students will improve their ensemble skills by playing a wide variety of repertoire. Including the essential repertoire, students will play works by living composers. Much emphasis will be put on the Orchestra in the 21 century!
