Volunteer Opportunities
Become a vital part of the Luzerne Music Center community by joining our team of passionate volunteers. Volunteers are a driving force behind the success of our summer camp, providing essential support that enriches the lives of campers and enhances the overall camp experience. From assisting with our facilities and sharing valuable skills to collecting tickets at our concerts creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, volunteers contribute in myriad ways. At Luzerne Music Center, we recognize and celebrate the profound impact volunteers make in creating a positive and nurturing environment for everyone involved.
On-Site Volunteers
Whether you're a local resident in the foothills of the Adirondacks or you spend time in these mountains in the summer, Luzerne Music Center provides numerous chances to contribute as a volunteer on our grounds. Join us in creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of community amid the natural beauty that defines Luzerne Music Center. Opportunities on-site include:

Facilities Assistance: Help us prepare our property for our summer season. This assistance can be helping to clean up the camp, planting flowers, assisting our facilities manager with any projects, and more.

Concert Series: Support our ticketed concerts during our summer concert series. Volunteers serve as ushers, ticket collectors, or parking attendants. You can join us for one concert or all of them—whatever works with your summer schedule!

Transportation: Throughout the summer months, volunteers play a crucial role in helping transport students that take public transportation to LMC. Since these volunteers would be driving students, there will be additional screening beyond our standard background check, including requesting a motor vehicle record (MVR).

Host Family: Welcome our international students into your home a few days before their arrival to camp to help them acclimate to life in the US, or at the end of their session before their travels home. There will be additional screening beyond our standard background check for this position, including requesting a motor vehicle record (MVR), as well as training required to be provided by LMC.

Community Ambassador: Help us facilitate connections with our community and prospective families. Serve as a greeter on our student check-in days for families or lead a camp tour.
Off-Site Volunteers
For those who wish to support Luzerne Music Center but find themselves distant from the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, there are meaningful ways to be involved and give back to our camp community. Remote volunteer opportunities include:

Volunteer consultant: Consider sharing your specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities with our administrative staff to improve LMC as a volunteer consultant. Areas of interest may include marketing, web design, fundraising, social work, education, community engagement, event management, engineering, and much more.

Testimonial/story sharing: Whether you’re an alumni, long-time patron, former employee, or community member, consider sharing your story about LMC and how it has impacted your life. These testimonials may be used for promotional or fundraising purposes.

Promotion: Help spread the word of LMC. Join us in helping to promote our summer concert series and our summer camp program.

Host a regional event: We currently take part in fundraising events and recruitment events all around the country. If you’re interested in facilitating a small fundraising event in your community or home, or hosting a recruitment event, we’d be happy to connect with you!
Alumni Student and Parent/Caregiver Ambassadors
Dedicated alumni ambassadors play a pivotal role in our community by extending a warm welcome to new families, sharing personal experiences from their time with LMC, and assisting with engagement at local and regional events. The first-hand accounts they share add substantial value through the meaningful connections they forge, the wealth of experiences they have, and the extended outreach they bring to our community. Their volunteer efforts contribute to vital connections, inform prospective students, extend hospitality to families, and contribute to the growth and vibrancy of our community.
